VegTrug Wins Prestigious Green Thumb Award 2012
VegTrug has been named as a winner of the annual Green Thumb Awards for 2012 being one of only 5 products selected for an award this year.
Now in its 15th year, winners of the 2012 Green Thumb Awards were chosen by an independent panel of garden writers and editors. The winning products were selected based on their uniqueness, technological innovation, ability to solve a gardening problem or provide a gardening opportunity, and potential appeal to gardeners.
The Green Thumb Awards recognize outstanding new garden products available by mail or online. The awards are sponsored by the Direct Gardening Association (DGA), the world’s largest nonprofit association of companies that sell garden products directly to consumers via catalogs and websites.

VegTrug Awarded FSC Certificate for UK Operations
VegTrug are pleased to announce that we have passed our UK warehouse and workflow inspection to be awarded the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certificate for Outdoor Furniture and Gardening products.
The FSC runs a global forest certification system with two key components: Forest Management and Chain of Custody certification. This system allows consumers to identify, purchase and use timber and forest products produced from well-managed forests.
The Forest Stewardship Council’s “tick tree” logo is used on product labels to indicate whether products are certified under the FSC system. When you see the FSC logo on a label you can buy timber and other wood products, such as paper, with the confidence that you are not contributing to the destruction of the world’s forests. VegTrug will be proud to display the FSC logo on every VegTrug box.
Our factories are also in full compliance and have their own individual FSC certificates which can be checked on the database at the FSC website.
This means that the company is in full compliance with supplying our FSC certified VegTrugs for sale throughout the world and throughout our chain of supply.

New Office Manager at Ardleigh
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Caroline Fairweather to the position of Office Manager at our Ardleigh Warehouse and Offices. She will be working closely with Paul Owen with a view to improving customer communication, service and efficiency.
Caroline comes with a wealth of experience and is returning to work part time initially. Her first key project for the company was to oversee our UK warehouse annual FSC chain of custody review and to ensure our compliance in the UK offices.
Her key duties will be to look after the back office logistics for the business and to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner.
Having seen Caroline work for a few weeks now, we can assure you that VegTrug will be a more efficient business as a result of Caroline's work!

Poplar Nurseries Scheme for Schools
'Sowing the seed for our next generation of gardeners'
VegTrug are delighted to be working in support of an initiative by Poplar Nurseries at Marks Tey in Essex who are one of our most poplar retailers.
Poplar have commenced a pilot initiative in local schools called the "Poplar Nurseries Scheme for Schools" and VegTrug have donated 8 Large VegTrugs to the following schools:

The VegTrugs will be delivered in November and will have a plaque showing that they have been donated by VegTrug in association with Poplar Nurseries.
Rachel Gill who is heading the Poplar Schools scheme will be arranging school visits in the New Year once the growing season is underway. She will also run a competition called 'The Salad Bowl' in 2012. All of the chosen schools and any others that wish to take part will submit a bowl of salad (this can contain anything that they have grown on the school premises) in the first week of July 2012. Exact date to be announced.
The winning school will receive a trophy bowl with their school engraved on it. This will be returned for the following year so they will also receive a miniature version that the school can keep.
Good luck to all the Schools in the scheme and we are delighted to be supporting this superb initiative.
VegTrug Christmas Office Opening Times
We would confirm that the VegTrug office will be open until Friday 23rd December and will re-open for business Tuesday 3rd January 2012.
Last date for orders to be delivered before Christmas will be December 19th 2011 with delivery by December 22nd.
